The Style of the Wine

Finesse, richness, complexity and harmony all come together and unite to show how complete this exceptional wine is. An iron hand in a velvet glove, it describes the fullness of the Pinot Noir with exceptional distinction, expressing a taut nervosity before resonating with richness and elegance. Its aromas evolve harmoniously with age. When young, the wine offers floral notes mingled with raspberry, morello cherries and blackcurrant. With time the aromas evolve and develop towards spices, liquorice, undergrowth and leather.

So many names which make the greatness of the Pinot Noir resound through extremely elegant wines. - The fullness of the Pinot Noir You need to know how to wait for this Vosne Romanée Les Suchots, as time gives it a sheen and an exceptional feel. The brief impression of austerity during its youth fades, the tannins soften and the wine becomes rounder... Maturity gives it sensuality and elegance. - No pumps Domaine de l'Arlot has chosen to use gravity for the vinification of its wines. Only the laws of gravity are used right from the arrival of the grapes to the flowing of the wine into casks. By avoiding the use of pumps, the profound nature of the grapes and must is preserved. The fruit character of the wine is made keener and tighter.

Tasting Note

Purple colour. The bouquet is most delicate with its hints of cinnamon, violet and tobacco. The sensation on the palate stands out by its finesse, with a supple, generous attack and velvety-smooth tannins. The long-lasting finish shows off all the charm of Les Suchots.

The Weather

The warm, dry spring came early this year, bringing budburst forward, followed by flowering in June. The cool, damp summer was then made up for by ideal conditions in September to ripen off the grapes nicely.

The Harvest

We brought in this year's harvest in two phases in order to make the most of the excellent ripening conditions. The grapes for the white wines were picked on 11 and 12 September. After a two-day break, we harvested the reds from 15 to 20 September.

The Grapes

September boosted the concentration of the grapes in sugar, aromas and tannins, making for a vintage with lots of fruit flavours. The harvest was reasonably good, although slightly smaller than average with a yield just below the 30hl/ha mark.
